Tell us about your role at Grapeshot…

I have just started a new role at Grapeshot as Director of Knowledge Distribution. Knowledge Management is a discipline of identifying, capturing, retrieving, sharing and evaluating an enterprise’s information assets.

What has made you so successful in a male dominated industry?
I don’t see myself as being successful. I am just doing my job to the best of my ability. l am not afraid to stand up for what I believe in, standing up for myself and others. I truly believe in transparency, honesty and trust and thrive to make sure this is the way I work and manage teams. I care about the quality of my work, I care about not letting people down and I really care about the people I work with and doing the best by them.

What do you like about working for Grapeshot?
Inspirational people, smart tech, the desire to innovate and be best of breed.

How did you get into Ad Tech?
I worked in the digital sell side and it was a natural follow on. I have degrees in science and IT which allowed me to adopt the ad tech knowledge and processes quite quickly.

What could a career in the industry look like for women entering Ad Tech?
There are so many facets to Ad Tech: Sales, Engineering, Software Development, Marketing, Finance and Client Services. A good degree, an inquiring mind, a process driven individual is all it takes to enter and make your mark.

Why do you think there are so few women in Ad Tech?
Because there is a long-running trend of women not chasing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) qualifications. Women are prevalent in Sales and AM roles.

What advice do you have for women in Ad Tech?
Don’t wing it. Knowledge is king. Put team before I.
