The Economist’s Marketing Unbound conference recently highlighted lessons that we’ve all learned/should when it comes to talking about big data (buzz word alert). You can’t argue that data isn’t important, but you can argue the 3 lessons learned below:

Marketers leading the pack are centering decisions around the customer
Data cannot innovate and create
Digital research cannot replace traditional methods

The common theme here is the consumer. The best marketers have them in mind at every step. Data can inform and guide decisions, but the consumer is the one marketers are targeting.
