Digiday’s Publishing Summit occurred in Bologna earlier this month, and it was the perfect opportunity to hear what premium publishers are doing around users and ad blocking. One thing that all executives could agree on was that ad blocking was created, because advertising was allowed to be done poorly.

Letting users know politely that they must disable their ad blockers in order to access content was a common theme among these folks.

Other ideas that were mentioned include the following:

Completely blocking those who are actively using ad blockers
Give ad blocker users a poorer web experience
